Rewards and Bribery
There will come a time when you do realise that a few extra favors or rewards can work wonders. It is a wonder that the teeth of many Korean children haven?t become totally rotten from the extra junk food and candy they seem to be gulping down in large amounts.

You will find that the director keeps suitable sweet rewards in his/her office to give out to solve problems, as will all the Korean staff. Their reward system for the students is obvious and basic and always involves items such as candy. Candy will seemingly be given to a child throwing a tantrum in the hall to shut him up, and a good student in equal measure.

My best advice is that you look at positive rewards that don?t always involve sugar.

Why not have some fancy stickers or a ?best class member? award etc. Don?t get pulled into rewards to shut up the kids as they will see through it pretty quickly and you might find your classroom chaos is worse, not better. Once again teachers in our program are provided with extensive help and advice from World English Service Ltd. staff, in all areas of classroom management for the full 12 months of their contracts.
